The CIA professional photography program is one of the best in world for students wishing to enter the professional photographic community, or enhance their current skills to the highest possible level. The course outline has been developed over many years with input from some of Australia’s most exciting and respected professionals. Each student has the unique opportunity to study the technical requirements of camera and lighting operation whilst developing their creative artistry through in-depth lectures supported by practical assignments and workshops. Students receive quality course materials and instruction from a range of photographic specialist in the fields of wedding/portrait, commercial, fashion, media and documentary, advertising, architecture, product and food photography. |
Each unit is 8 weeks in duration (unless otherwise stated) consisting of 8 x 3hrs evening classes and a weekend workshop over a Saturday and Sunday of 4 hours on each day. Students are expected to have their own 35mm DSLR camera, flash and tripod for each unit. Some units require prerequisites through previous study or extensive industry experience. It would be expected that each student dedicates at least 6hrs per week to complete their assignment work to the required level.
The CIA photography programs are taught in a professional training rooms, on location or in commercial studio space depending on the unit and study mode undertaken. Students have the ability to submit progressive assignment work online for continued feedback and ongoing critique during their course. The Students who have advanced to unit 6 are involved with simulated and real commercial briefs on a regular basis helping to bridge the gap from student and professional.
It is recommended that students undertake the Photoshop program during their studies. |
