This course is ideal for students new to DSLR photography. Starting at the very basics, students learn the functions and operations of their digital SLR cameras.
Students undertake 5 evening classes of 3 hours each beginning at the very basics and working their way through camera functions and operations, lenses, exposure, histograms, aperture, shutter speed and ISO and light. Students complete weekly shooting assignments for open class critique throughout their course.
The unique mixture of theory and practical instruction ensures each student experience is informative, practical and enjoyable. At the completion of this unit students will understand their camera operations and begin to use light, exposure and lens focal length to create exciting, sharp images.
5 week beginner photographer course
1 Night per week 6:30 –9:30pm
Open to all students new to photography and wanting to know how their camera works and how to start taking good images.
Content Covered:
- The digital camera and accessories
- ISO and exposure
- Shutter Speed and Aperture
- Light metering techniques and how your camera reads light
- Using your SLR in manual mode
- White balance and Histograms
- Basic manipulation and natural light photography
- Basic composition and lens characteristics
At the completion of 5 sessions students receive a certificate and are invited to continue with advanced courses if they wish.

Requirements:
No prior photography knowledge. This course is not recommended for compact cameras.
